This is a straightforward local restaurant focused entirely on traditional Spanish and Canarian dishes. The menu includes classics such as fried squid, grilled seafood, garlic shrimp, and, of course, the iconic papas arrugadas with mojo sauce, one of the most famous specialties of the Canary Islands.

If you're wondering whether you can have a true gourmet dining experience in Costa Adeje, the answer is yes.

In fact, the area is home to several Michelin-starred restaurants, and during our trip, we chose Donaire, mainly because it was the closest to our accommodation.

Donaire is located inside the GF Victoria Hotel, which made it the first Michelin restaurant inside a hotel that we've ever visited. While I generally prefer standalone restaurants for fine dining, the food here completely changed our perspective.

The cuisine focuses on contemporary interpretations of Canarian ingredients, combining local produce with modern culinary techniques.

What made the experience so memorable was the chef's creativity. Many dishes played with contrasts, sweet and salty elements in the same bite, hot and cold components on the same plate, and textures that kept changing throughout the tasting menu.

It's hard to single out one specific dish because the entire menu felt cohesive and surprising. But overall, it was truly one of the best culinary experiences we've ever had.

A Restaurant We Would Skip: Seen by Olivier

Even with months of research and careful planning, you can still end up with a disappointing meal.

For us, that experience happened at Seen by Olivier Tenerife.

At first glance, the restaurant looks incredibly promising. It's located on the beach, part of a stylish hotel complex, and the marketing promises a sophisticated dining experience with beautiful ocean views.

Unfortunately, the reality didn't live up to the expectations.

The first issue was the service. When we arrived, the hostess was surprisingly rude. She even raised her voice as she directed us to wait behind a curtain, despite our made-in-advance reservation and the fact that our table was already ready.

The prices were also extremely high. In fact, the dinner ended up costing more than 300 euros for four people, which is comparable to what you would expect at a Michelin-starred restaurant.

The problem is that the food simply didn't justify those prices.

Most dishes were average at best. The only memorable part of the meal was a smoked cheesecake dessert, which was genuinely excellent. But unfortunately, one good dessert doesn't make up for an otherwise disappointing experience.

To make matters worse, the waiter added a 10% tip directly to the bill without asking, which left a particularly bad impression.

So while Seen by Olivier might look appealing online, based on our experience, we would recommend spending your time and money elsewhere.
